2006 Summer Solstice Cruise - A Smashing Success!
The 2nd annual Summer Solstice Cruise was a sell-out success! About 150 friends, supporters, sponsors and advertisers contributed substantially to the fund for the exterior lighting of the former Dutch Reformed Church, while enjoying a the only rain-free weather of the week.
Guests enjoyed wine from Vino 100, great food from Nancy Billman Catering, and desserts from Caffé Machiatto.
Special honors went to James Moss, chair and former publisher of the Times Herald-Record, for his contributions to life in the Hudson Valley.
We also paused to mourn the passing of painter Peter Billman, who had contributed so much to Newburgh Preservation and the DRC restoration efforts.
The NPA board heartily thanks the Summer Solstice committee, led by Millie Starin, for their tireless and effective work in producing this event. We are also grateful to the sponsors, advertisers, contributers, and individuals who together made this an enjoyable event as well as important step in our progress toward the restoration of this great architectural landmark.
Thanks also to Peter Cody for throwing the switch to illuminate the DRC as the River Rose returned to dock, and to the City of Newburgh Fire Dept for providing the lights.
